Bad hair days and an absolute belief that an African brand can be as good as any imported product were two things that inspired Ntombenhle Khathwane to start her own business, AfroBotanics.
“As a person who’s always experimented with my hair,” explains Ntombenhle, “I began to have a love-hate relationship with it. This stemmed from having little knowledge of how to care for my dry, curly African hair. I realised that the kind of products I needed were not available in the market. I opted to formulate my own products and then decided to make it a business. AfroBotanics caters for many women, like myself, who want to have their best hair but are not gifted in mixing their own products.”
AfroBotanics is a proudly South African and proudly African premium brand made from 99% natural botanical ingredients and can be used on natural, relaxed and colour-treated hair. Ntombenhle’s desire to have a transparent brand that gives African consumers the best, have made her products a hit with women in South Africa and beyond.
“I am passionate about growing this continent,” Ntombenhle says enthusiastically, “And it can only grow when we start becoming producers of the products we consume.”
